Wearing My Mom Hat for Halloween
Today is the big day. The day my daughter, who is 4.5, has been talking about since November 1st last year! She's been planning her costumes since then. As expected those plans have changed a few times. But alas tonight she is off dressed as Sophia the First.
As for me I am wearing my mom hat for Halloween with a couple reminders and wishes…
- First, Happy Halloween and wishes for a fun, safe trick or treating for all the little ones out there!
- Second, reminder that the time changes this weekend so don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour and enjoy an extra hour of sleep!
- Third, check the batteries in your smoke detector.
- Finally, here's a surprisingly helpful article on alternative uses for baby products. I'll have to try a few of these myself!

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Been meaning to clean out your medicine cabinet and get rid of all those old, half-empty, expired prescription bottles and tubes that are cluttering up your bathroom but you're not sure what to do with them? Take the opportunity on Saturday to round them up and safely dispose of them at locations across the country.
Saturday, September 27th is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. You can plug in your zip code to find a list of locations near you. Collections sites are open from 10am to 2pm local time.
I've done this a couple of times (in past years). It only takes a few minutes. The collection sites make sure that prescriptions don't fall into the wrong hands or contaminate our soil and water. Bonus: you have a decluttered bathroom with minimal effort.

Gift Ideas for the Newly Pregnant
Congratulations! Someone in your life is newly pregnant. Lucky you! Maybe the momma-to-be just confided in you. Maybe she couldn't hold onto that joyous secret anymore and just blurted it out! Or maybe you just heard through the grapevine.
However you found out, you can relate to that elation (as a mom yourself), and you want to celebrate with the mom-to-be. But how? Too soon for a maternity shopping spree, and she's probably not in desperate need of a prenatal massage, yet!
Here are a few gift ideas for the newly pregnant woman in your life:
- Preggie Pops to help ease the first trimester morning sickness
- Most pregnancy books will scare her more then support her so try a subscription to a Pregnancy Magazine instead. It's more likely to have practical, minimal freak-out information
