Showcasing the Style Rx

This week I had a great opportunity to introduce Inspired by Dawn and Style Rx to some stylish women, raise money for a good cause and enjoy a few laughs with my mother, Jan, and mother-in-law, Kathy.

At the Christ Child's Red Wagon Luncheon (my MIL is a long-time member) we had a table and showcased the Style Rx.

Great reception for the brand and our versatile, stylish pill box cases. One stylish woman even picked up six for her and her sisters as gifts. Now that's Bringing Style to Life!

Want to Start a Company? Start with a Vision

One of the questions I’ve gotten the most over the last two years since setting out to establish Inspired by Dawn and creating the Style Rx is “How did you figure out how to do it? How did you know where to start?”. The truth is I didn't know. I had no idea about all the steps and strategy tweaks that it would take along the way. In fact, no one really does. There is no secret recipe or map leading to successfully launching a business and a brand.

Instead, I found more than ever it's about vision. I had a vision for different ways to make women's lives easier - by marrying style and function - and a strong focus on the core values and aesthetic that I wanted Inspired by Dawn to represent. Those were my guiding principals. I had a clear focus on what I wanted to put out into the world, and every time I was faced with a decision - whether it be a Pantone color for a printed pattern or final supplier choice - I weighed the options against my vision and often the choice became clear.

Before I started, maybe I knew all of this intellectually - define your vision, refine your strategy along the way, and the tactics will come into focus. But now I have lived it. I know it to be true. So the answer to "where to start" is to start at the end. What do you want to build, create, provide? What does it look, smell, feel like? Who do you want to reach with your product or service? What need do you want to address? What emotions do you want to illicit in those who interact with your brand? Start sketching out these ideas and give life to your vision. As you define that vision it will start to fill the blanks on where to start. And with a little luck and a lot of focus you can start your journey to Live Life Inspired.

Why a Stylish Pillbox?

Inspired by Dawn started with a simple idea - Bringing Style to Life. My vision for the brand is to offer women practical products infused with a healthy dose of style. From this basic principle came the idea to make the Style Rx my launch product. After all it fit the bill - the pill box case offers women the rare combination of function and style, and hopefully reflects some of the elements of your personal brand.

We hear it everyday – 40 is the new 30, 50 is the new 40, etc. – but regardless of the substance behind these statements, the truth is none of us want to feel older than we are. We all want to look like the best version of ourselves at any age. Each of us is our own brand, and we want everything about us to build and support the substance behind that brand. That includes first and foremost our personality, our actions and values. But it even extends to our superficial, everyday items – smartphone covers, sunglasses, shoes, pill cases, etc. All of these things together reflect to the world who we are, what is important to us and even our zest for life.

That’s why for me something as helpful, yet clinical as a pill box mattered. Tens of millions of people rely on a range of supplements and medications to help them maintain their health everyday but that tool had not evolved to reflect the vibrant, joy-filled women that I meet everyday. I felt there was a void and I’ve jumped into fill it.

However, rest assured the Inspired by Dawn will be about more than Style Rx. There are more products that I think could use a little signature style, and I’m prepared to have them stand appropriately under the Inspired by Dawn umbrella. An umbrella / brand that will always remain committed to Bringing Style to Life and helping you hone your personal brand.
