Last week I finally launched the Inspired by Dawn brand. It has been a long journey to develop my launch product, Style Rx, and bring this brand to life. Four short years ago I had my beautiful daughter, and with much trepidation left my marketing and branding career to take a much needed reboot and indulge in the opportunity to finally be a mom. However, as much as I looked forward to this one-of-a-kind time I knew that I would always resume my career.
As my newborn daughter quickly became an active and independent toddler, our family made a cross-country move, and before I knew it my little girl was leaving me several times a week for preschool. While all this was happening it was becoming increasingly clear that I needed to figure out what I was going to do to put my marketing experience back to work. Fortunately, in the midst of this transition, I went through a period of inspiration – probably because I had a moment to think since leaving the confines of an office building! The original idea for the Style Rx line of pill box cases started evolving in my mind, along with other ways to make to make life simpler, yet more attractive for busy women at all stages of life.
I felt the time was right to see if I could take this idea and figure out how to bring it to the market – all while building a unique brand along the way. The branding part is what I’ve done throughout my career. It’s what I love. That part made sense to me and excited me most. But the designing, sourcing, quality control, intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, oh my!), contracts, etc., etc. – that was all new to me. I’ve learned more than I ever wanted to know about some of these areas but they were all little pieces in my journey and I’ve stretched myself in new ways. I’ve become a more well-rounded professional along the way, and hopefully a more inspired wife and mother. (Tips for Starting Your Own Business)
Now I’m starting the next phase of my journey – getting Style Rx into people’s hands. I’m sure this part will have it’s own twists and turns and learning curves. I’d love to have you join me. Check back here as I detail the growth of Inspired by Dawn and Bring Style to Life along the way!
